About the KIM Report

Posted by David

Hello,

After a test run as a blogger on Stockhouse.com, I thought I’d start a blog relating to some of the stocks I follow. I have been investing, mainly mining and exploration companies, since early 2007.

I am by no means an analyst, but have been learning a few things along the way, especially during the trying times of the “subprime slime” problem from the U.S.

Although I have no formal training in economics or trading, I do posses and B.Sc. and M.Sc. in geology and currently am working on my Ph.D., also in that field.

The title of this blog refers to kimberlite indicator minerals (K.I.M.), which are dear to my heart as my focus of study is regarding diamonds, kimberlites, and their associated minerals.

Aside from some diamond companies, I also follow, and sometimes own a number of stocks in the precious metals, base metals, ferrous metals, gem, oil, and natural gas sectors.

The aim of this blog is to reflect on the news and science regarding companies in these areas and there mineral deposits.

As a scientist, objectivity and accuracy is the over-arching goal of the KIM Report. However, this blog often contains opinion-editorial content. Most times, the articles I write have a positive or neutral viewpoint on a company or group of companies. Unfortunately, bad news in the sector deserves just as much coverage as good. I do my best effort to provide accurate coverage that is useful to the reader regardless of what alternative spin a company (or shareholders of that company) would like to put on the issues at hand.

The KIM Report exists in no way to “pump” or “bash” stocks for monetary gain. This blog and the articles published on it are created as a hobby covering a sector I follow due to personal interest. No article on this blog is published with the intent to affect public perception of a company in a manner that would result in my personal gain. Each article contains full disclosure in the disclaimer regarding the author’s position in any mentioned companies.

Yes, a few ads exist on the site. They pay for the web-hosting fees and that is about it. Also, most of the ads are actually closely related (rare for Adsense I know) to the topics covered and provide legitimate goods and services in demand by many readers.

If you have any concerns/comments/questions/etc. you can email me at kimreport[at]gmail[dot]com

Please have a pleasant read
